The Favre Leuba Deep Raider Revival Orange, a Colourful and Sporty Retro Diver

Ever since Favre Leuba has been relaunched at Geneva Watch Days 2024, the brand has been going back to its archives and giving old favourites a fresh spin. Unveiled at this event was the Deep Blue collection that hosted two watches: the Deep Blue Revival (39mm) and Deep Blue Renaissance (40mm). This comeback collection was based on the very famous Deep Blue dive watch from the 1960s, still inspiring this modern family that is now known as the Deep Raider collection. Joining this is the Deep Raider Power Reserve, which was very recently released with a power reserve display and dials in as many as five colours. Not stopping at that, Favre Leuba is now launching the Deep Raider Revival Orange.

The technical aspects of the watch have not changed, but the colour scheme has, which it borrows from Favre Leuba’s dive watches from the 1970s, particularly the Bathy 160. With this tone, Favre Leuba has added a much sharper and sportier look to the already playful Deep Raider platform. You still get the familiar Revival dial with its crosshair layout and sunray finish. The date display is tucked between four and five o’clock and is outlined with a metallic border. A sword-shaped hour hand is paired with arrow-tipped minute and seconds hands, all with Super-LumiNova inserts.

Since Favre Leuba now appears to be consolidating the collection under the Deep Raider banner, the dial of the new Revival models has received a tiny update. Earlier references showed the “Deep Blue” branding on the dial, whereas the new version replaces it with a printed depth rating. The integrated five-link bracelet with its triangular links still adds much to the watch’s retro feel. Favre Leuba also includes an orange fabric strap with the watch, giving the Deep Raider Revival Orange a more peppy and summery side.

As expected, the Deep Raider Revival Orange stays very close to the original in terms of design. The compact stainless steel case measures 39mm in diameter and 12.75mm thick, keeping the same old-school dive-watch proportions as before. This case combines brushed and polished finishes with softly curved sides and a unidirectional rotating bezel. Orange details make their way onto the black sapphire crystal bezel insert as well, which still carries the same vintage-style typography and luminous triangle marker at 12 o’clock. A sapphire crystal covers the dial, while water resistance remains rated to 300 metres.

Powering the watch is the automatic FLD01 calibre based on the La Joux-Perret calibre LJP-G100. Operating at 28,800 vibrations/hour and offering a 68-hour power reserve, the movement handles hours, minutes, central seconds, and the date display. The Favre Leuba Deep Raider Revival Orange is priced at EUR 2,900 or USD 3,200.
